As you explore the town, you are sure to come across the 234 steps of the “Monumental Staircase”, which reaches an altitude of 35 metres and links the old and new towns.
This architectural marvel was built in 1863.
On its upper landing, you will discover a contemporary sculpture entitled “Observatoire du Temps” (literally, “Time Observatory”). It was created by Catalan artist Jaume Plensa and stands in front of the fountain.
